Dr. Shelby Hixon received her doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Auburn University in 2016 after attending the University of Alabama for her Bachelors of Science in Biology. After vet school, she attended Chi University, where she became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist so that she could integrate Eastern medicine into her Western veterinary medical practice and improve her scope of treatment for her patients. In addition to her Eastern Medicine, Dr. Hixon has a passion for and has completed ancillary training in both dentistry and ultrasonography.
Dr. Hixon grew up down the street in Towne Lake and is happy to come back home to join us at BridgeMill Animal Hospital. She lives in Canton with her partner, Jesse, their son, Raylan, and their 4 dogs: Ayla, Sasha, Madeleine, and Meatball. Their other furry (and feathery) family include 2 cats, a horse, 2 goats, and chickens. She enjoys spending time with family and competing in athletic events, though she is a few years retired from swimming at Bama (Roll Tide Roll!).
